"...but because they are hard"
🌖🧑🚀 the goddess of the hunt will load up a few humans for a spin around the moon starting wednesday evening, if the weather and the hydrogen leaks hold.
i was born around the time her brother, apollo, took a few guys up there…with “answerable courage” william branford said.
sure wish there was someone around nowadays to inspire like this did:
But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon… We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.
- Address at Rice University on the Nation’s Space Effort, John F. Kennedy, September 12, 1962
i wonder if this will even phase anyone with all that’s happening in the world today. from what I read, however, 1968 was even more of a “bitch of a year.” yet, people were inspired by eight, united even, for a time.
so then, godspeed apollo 8 redux, and artemis, please bring integrity home safe
“…then we must be bold.” indeed.
